We are currently experiencing a problem with the configuration software for our IPC-1 camera. This software is open source and available on GitHub, but the last commit was over six months ago. The most frequently reported problems are that video quality goes down when there is motion at night, pictures are too high contrast to be useable, it's difficult to adjust settings in certain lighting conditions, and there are various driver issues. Please update this software if you're an experienced programmer who likes to work on open source projects! If not please stay tuned for updates here or on our Facebook page. Thanks! LINKS:Supporting Page: http://maginon.com/ipc-1Hardware specs are on this page, including some nice pictures of the camera. It's recommended that you check this out before getting the camera so that you know what to expect. http://maginon.com/ipc-1/overview/ Software specs are directly here on the page, which includes links to download some sample code in several different languages for some of their functions, as well as some information on how they work. Unfortunately this link was not updated past February 2012 so newer versions will not be found here...although all versions of this software are available on GitHub. http://maginon.com/ipc-1/software-and-samples/ Included is a link to the GitHub page which is where the software will be updated from now on. http://maginon.com/ipc-1/software-and-samples/# The problem with using open source software for this camera is that it is not very polished and takes some basic understanding of general computer programming and some networking knowledge to get it running properly. For example, if you don't know how to edit the settings file (a basic text file) you won't be able to do much with this camera right away. You'll also need some experience with OpenCV or another programming language to get the video to work properly. Here are some links for more info on setting up the above software: http://maginon.com/ipc-1/getting-started/ http://maginon.com/ipc-1/software-and-samples/#samplesThis camera has had mixed reviews since its launch, mostly because of the lack of information about it and what the actual specifications are. There is also no literature of any kind for people working on these devices, which can cause many problems down the road for people using them professionally. First off, as of February 2012, the software is pretty much outdated. It doesn't work on windows 8 at all and I've had some issues with it not working on XP as well. It's also not very user friendly and you can't do much without having a decent knowledge of networking and coding. For example, the live video feed freezes every so often and if you hit "refresh" it just loads more black squares instead of updating the image. It has many compatibility issues with different versions of windows and most modern computers don't even have USB 2.0 ports anymore (which they need to be able to run this camera). The live video feed is laggy and quality is very poor in low light conditions. cfa1e77820
